Beautiful Autumn Tansy Wreath

Tansy Wreath

I’m always scouring ditches for treasures (flowers, moss, wood, you name it), and one of my favourite flowers is the wild Tansy. It’s abundant, beautiful, free, and it makes for a lovely wreath, or bouquet.

I know that in some parts, it’s considered invasive…

but I say, invade… (perhaps farmers do not)…

To make the wreath, I simply clipped off the flower heads and pushed the stems into a willow wreath that I purchased at Michaels.

Start at the bottom and push the flower heads up the left side of the base, then up the right side of the base until they meet at the top.

At the bottom, I created a little spray by pushing the flowers in from the left, and in from the right, and then secured them with some twine. Easy Peasy!

Definitely a country bouquet.

I’ve never seen this flower before. I think it’s beautiful. Great job on the wreath and simply putting them in the silver pail makes for a gorgeous display.

What a wonderful idea. Plenty of tansy around these parts but most of mine finds it’s way into the dye pot. The wreath is gorgeous though :)

I think it’s so nice that you’ve kindly included the word ‘simply’ in your instructions – if you were instructing me you’d have to be blatantly ‘telling’ me, if not completely directing me! What a lovely result though – and I really enjoyed looking at your last two photos in the post.

This is one gorgeous wreath, Barb! How do the tansy flowers dry? Do they wilt much or stay pretty intact?

Beautiful, I do not think it grows around me wild. I was wondering if it dries well? I do a lot of dried work lately and I am always looking for flowers that dry and hold there vibrant colors.
