Going to a greenhouse can make you crazy

May 10, 2012 by Barb 27 Comments

A few days ago I went to a nearby greenhouse to soak up the sights and sounds of a garden setting. This is one of my favourite things to do in the spring. I still have a month to go before I can put out any flower pots so this sort of bridges the gap.

It all felt quite dreamy . . .

I couldn’t seem to focus . . .

there were so many pretty flowers and I could hear the soft sounds of water running through the fountains . . . and it was warm, oh so warm . . .

did you know orange is the new power colour? of course you did . . .

everything from flowers, to paint, to clothing, to purses . . .

say whaaa? yes . . . this beautiful baby was in their shop . . . in the greenhouse . . . I still don’t know what came over me but I couldn’t walk away . . . I had to have it . . .

it gets worse, people . . . my orange power shopping didn’t stop with just a purse . . .

no, I had to have a scarf . . . I have a thing for scarves . . .

but these shoes sent me over the top . . . whenever am I going to have a chance to get shoes with an orange strip? to go with my orange purse? and my orange scarf?

No wait! one more thing . . .

I’m thinking maybe this could be my Mother’s Day present. But, I’m not my mother. . . (I just look like my mother).

Oh why do greenhouses have to carry merchandise like this? If I had wanted a purse I would have gone to the purse store. A purse was NOT on my radar. Especially an orange one. I’m in a quandary over what to wear with this pretty ensemble. I’m thinking a great pair of jeans and a khaki top.

The gardening can wait.

    Barb, you make me smile!
I visited a garden center yesterday, but they sure did not have any goodies like these. They did have some really beautiful flowers though, but like you, I need to wait a bit before I trust this weather.

    LOVE THAT BAG!!!

LOVE this post! That purse is great, and my jaw dropped at the last item! Such a great Mother’s Day gift! (And totally acceptable to give yourself one, as I bought myself a new lens, and I’m not a mother.)

I’ll have to find some new garden centers to frequent, as the ones I go to now don’t sell things like that. :)

oh my word I’m drooling over that bag. did you know orange is my favorite color? I would have snatched that up in a heartbeat – you were so right to do it. that’s one of the most fabulous bags I’ve ever seen. there’s a garden center near me that has great clothing, shoes, etc.
I was there the other day, and I stopped in that area briefly before moving on to make my flower/vegetable purchases. I had to stay focused on why I was there in the first place, but it wasn’t easy! happy day to you Barb.

Wonderful photos! Whenever I go to the garden center, I get dizzy over the great selection. I can never make a decision. AND I stay clear of the gift shop….it’s the danger zone!

Oh Barb! What a delightful journey! I’m not an orange fan, but you’ve made it especially beautiful! (Those first African “crazy-daisies” are what I want this year….I had them two years ago and had the white version last year, but they didn’t do well at all. I bought the plants in a nursery about 3 hours from home.)

I love that purse!! I am also really glad that my garden center does not carry dangerous items like purses ~ I can spend enough money there on plants. Our last chance for frost is the long week-end so I am doing some planning so next week-end I can at least do my containers. Happy week-end!

I love the purse and I too have a thing about scarves. I am loving the tangerine color this spring too. But own very little. Note to self. Must go shopping. I love those cute shoes with the stripe. Blue jeans and a white shirt. Nothing beats a crisp white shirt with a pair of jeans. You must share your outfit when you wear it!!!

Great – you gave yourself a “power” present! It’s lovely. We just painted a new room a palish orangey/coral color — I wanted it to look like a Florida sunrise.
