Friday Finds

March 7, 2014 by Barb 22 Comments

Oranges-Still-Life-copy-2

There are a couple “finds” in this photo, the most recent being these yummy little Mandarins. I found them in a little store as I made my way to my country home this past week. It was the bright colour that caught my eye and at the time I wasn’t even thinking of photographing them. I picked up a bunch of daffodils too, which will soon be making an appearance here.

An older “find” is the four white Medalta bowls … swoon … . As I’ve mentioned before, I love to collect Medalta pottery. The cup I used in my “Heart Chocolate” is Medalta. I didn’t realize how much I love the white pottery … .

I find that I don’t have much to say these days. Yikes, I need an infusion of inspiration. This is where I say I’m not going to complain about the weather. I’m not going to complain about the weather. I’m not going to complain about the weather.

OK. I’m not going to complain about the weather.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Beautiful! I love the layout of this image, and that bright beautiful orange color. I’m loving the bowls too (and the cup in your other image)!

Oh Barb I know how you feel (about the weather)! Winter doesn’t seem to be loosening its grip here in MB either. But I take comfort in the fact that the sun is shining brightly today and you can really feel it’s warmth. Winter can’t last forever right? Happy Friday!

We must have been on the same wave link this week, yesterday I got two bunches of daffodils and also some type of Mandarins. I don’t remember what they were called but found them at Whole Foods. They were pretty ugly all warty and wrinkled but oh my are they sweet. I ate the two I got before I could photograph and the daffs are for my granddaughter who is a talking mouse in Cinderella. :)

Those two colors together certainly compliment each other. And I can attest to the wonderful taste of those sweet mandarin oranges.

The all white and bit of bright orange are very exciting to see Barb! Those Mandarins are so good to eat – just bought a bag yesterday. The weather here in IN has finally taken a turn – sunny and warmer today! It will cause spring fever, I’m afraid. I’ll send some your way too!

Well it’s unanimous that orange is the key, but the white brings out the richness. Love it.

Beautiful oranges and yummy bowls! :-D You know, Barb … I think it’s that time of year. I’ve been struggling to find words on my blog, too. I do think it’s due to winter fatigue. Seriously. I missed the Friday linkups today, not for that reason {life interfered} but I’m so happy I got to visit you and enjoy your finds.

You set this up so perfectly with all that white and the pops of orange! I love white dishes too but need to replace the old ones I have and have been thinking about some I saw at Pottery Barn. They carry them all the time so I could replace a piece if necessary (it’s sometimes necessary at my house!) Keeping my fingers crossed that spring comes soon!

Oh my, do I know how you feel Barb! I just realized it’s been two weeks since I’ve blogged. :(

Winter just seems to be lasting forever this year . . . BUT it’s going to be 7 ABOVE today!! And have you seen the forecast for next week?! Once I’ve done my newborn shoot Wednesday, It will be time to fire up the green house. All those baby plant cuttings I’ve ordered are going to need a home. Whoo Hoo!
The end IS in sight! :D

    Barb,

Lovely in its simplicity. I never heard of that kind of pottery but I love white.

Hope spring comes soon for you!

It’s an inspiring composition, Barb. I realize that I have such Mandarins in my kitchen, just waiting to be eaten, well, their destiny might be much more fulfilling! :)
