Welcome to “app” happy wednesday #13! If you’re new to the party, this is a weekly link-up to share your photos edited with “apps” of any kind!
Let me stress there are no rules!! Just join the fun and share any kind of artsy creation!
As I was driving home from “town” the other day I took a detour down a country road that I had never been on. I was lured by a bright yellow canola field but ended up finding quite a bit more than I was expecting. This tiny barn caught my eye but it was the white fence that drew me in. Oh the leading lines (to die for!) I loved that it was white, chippy, and best of all, falling over!
After a few edits, this is what I ended up with … Dorothy, can you hear me?
Here’s a step-by-step of my edits:

Original
When I changed the Blend Mode of the sky to Subtract it was instant magic (crazy stuff!)
I want to mention that I take photos of cloudy skies and have them in a folder on the Camera Roll (stuff like that comes in very handy!)
And there you have it! That’s it!
Now let’s see what you’ve been up to!
Use any “app” you like and perhaps explain how you used it.
- Did you use just one? Did you combine apps?
- Simply create some art. Post it on your blog or Flickr or wherever you are uploading your work, and then come back here and link it up!
- Visit a few friends to see what they are up to and perhaps learn some fabulous new tips and techniques.
- Spread the word about the link-up, the more the merrier!
- Each party will start at 5:00 am on Wednesdays and will stay open until the following Sunday night at midnight.
- You can now use Instagram to link your images! Way cool! Check the article here. I also added some tips on this post here.
*sorry … this series is closed
I love this barn! And the tutorials on the process is very helpful. Missed you all last week, ‘appy’ to be back!
I love old barns and I love how you’ve made it look. This is my first time here and I don’t think I explained the apps I used very well. I will do better with that next week.
oh, my! love a good fence photo and a barn is perfect!
Wow, what a fab edit Barb ! I love it and thanks for showing all the steps …..
This is beautiful! What a fantastic idea to create a folder of cloudy skies – I must remember that. And I don’t know anything about PS Touch yet…I must investigate further!
Red barn.. white fence.. stormy clouds.. perfect image!!
subtract, difference and exclusion can be so weird and so wonderful! I always check those to see if they do something interesting! Love the clouds!
PS: I have to admit that when you said a field full of canola — all I could picture was a field full of vegetable oil containers! ; )
lol, Jessica!
This is so cool!! Thanks for sharing all of the steps.
Love this! You found the perfect POV to showcase this delightful barn!
Have to confess that I have no idea what is meant by an app.
I saw all those pretty pictures and wanted to join in.
Hope you don’t mind.
If someone tells me what I am supposed to be doing, then I will try and do better next week :-)
Hi girl friday! I’m so glad you joined in the fun! Your image is amazing – stunning really! How did you do it? and I love the “mouseover”.
btw – your blog is wonderful! I hope to see you often!
Barb
Well, you know I love red barns and that fence is the cherry on top!! Lovely edits you clever girl!!
You have such a good eye for composition. Such satisfying lines. If I’m honest, I have to say that I like the original photo best of all. Everything just clicks.
That is one wicked sky. I thought that it was the real thing. I have seen some like that and I hope you won’t to this summer. Thanks for hosting this gathering. I look forward to seeing what everyone’s doing.
Beautiful barn and you finally pushed me over the edge!! Proud new owner of an iPad and going crazy studying past Weds. posts and links. I wasn’t sure if linking to a gallery is allowed so will change if you wish. Look forward to each new “app Happy” and learning along the way.
