Texture Tuesday: On Ice

December 16, 2014 by Barb 21 Comments

About two weeks ago hubby cleared the snow from a large area on the lake to use as a skating rink (check this IG image for the action shot). We’d had a ton of snow and the temperatures were brutal. However, the forecast was for unseasonably warm temperatures to arrive … the perfect recipe for perfect ice!

As the sun shone on the ice, it melted slightly and formed an even and perfect surface for skating.

So clever and I can’t decide which I like the best. The processing on the last one for sure would I send as a Christmas card. But the food is just too tempting.

These have got to be some of the most creative photos – on the ice – I would probably not have ever thought about that. Of course, I do live by the beach, so there ya have it! haha

Really, these are just so good!

Oh my! I would guess the footing would be a little “iffy” for that photo shoot…but what a fabulous idea. Beautiful props, too.

I can’t tell you how much I love these images! The set-up is so interesting – you are so creative! A table of treats set-up near the shoreline is usually a summer image – so unexpected to see it in the winter. Just so perfect!

These are so lovely and so creative … and so cold looking! Although I used to ice skate as a child, it’s been years. Now the thought just chills my bones. It is blowing my mind how quickly your lake froze over. It seems like you were just out there boating!

Wonderful. I would love to join you. I haven’t been ice skating for many years and then only in a rink . . . never out in the open on a lake. What joy.

wow barb! in my neck of the woods it rarely gets cold enough for long enough for the water to ice over enough to skate. these images are amazing! the promise of chocolate is pretty much the only thing that would entice me to spend time outside in those frigid temperatures. ;)

Barb, You’ve really outdone yourself! You seized the beautiful moments in your very own life and made pictures that bring us all to your world. And, wow, that’s a wonderful place to spend time. Your pictures bring a lovely sense of nostalgia for the activities and foods of the season – and that hot chocolate looks divine!

I LOVE these still-lifes! It’s been a perfect season for smooth ice. It makes me want to dig out my skates and glide–especially if there’s a table of hot chocolate not far away!
