Texture Tuesday, and One Thing

April 14, 2015 by Barb 18 Comments

Today is Texture Tuesday and I present my “one thing”.

To explain … the “one thing” is a prompt in The Studio|Online whereby we choose one item and use it in a series of photos.

I’m currently working on a series of plate images and decided to use the burnt old cookie sheet I found at a garage sale as a background.

I’m happy enough with these, but my plan is to set up and shoot 4 different plates at the same time, with the same light, and apply the same processing to each one. This prompt is very inspiring and also grounding … as long as my background stays the same I can play and play and play …

I’ve used this background many times before …

… with lots of different elements …

… and I’m feeling more and more inspired! So strange how that is—it’s the same thing over and over—but different each time.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

And so much fun! I have an old, dark cookie sheet I’d like to use sometime just to see how it works out. I really love yours, and all the plates, and flowers on it. Your work is always a spark for us!! Thank you Barb,

What a clever idea. I can’t help chuckling when I see the old cookie sheets. I was so amazed when we were at Gather. I would never have known what the background was.

Wonderful series! It is hard to believe an old cookie sheet could make such a great background. I absolutely love the knife that says ‘spread love’. :)

Fabulous!!! I’ve photographed my cookie sheets for textures but hadn’t thought to actually use it for a background. I just love the processing on the second one. and those plates are to die for…

Barb, I love every image for this post. I agree – it’s strange how the simple arranging and re-arranging of the pieces of the collage – can be so enjoyable, so relaxing, and in many ways, so surprising. A simple shift of one element or position can create a whole new look! A beautiful series of photos on a fantastic background!
