Ruffed Grouse, Part II

October 13, 2011 by Barb 29 Comments

I had just stepped outside to water some flowers and noticed this little fella standing in the grass, frozen like a statue. I slipped back into the house, grabbed my camera and silently crept back outside and started to take some shots. It wasn’t long before he made a dash for the bushes and I felt quite lucky to have captured this. I wonder if he is related to this “Proud Bird“.

Thanks for visiting my blog. To answer your question about the area of that monument: It is in Southern Utah, right by Saint George. Have you heard of the Tuacahn Amphitheater? It is on the road to that, shortly before the turn off to Snow Canyon. I will be posting pictures of that area next.

This is a fabulous capture. Especially because the grouse should blend in with his surrounds.

A great experience! Your stealth skills must be something to slip back in and then out of the house and still get the picture. Amazing!
