Lilac Party II

June 9, 2015 by Barb 9 Comments

Today I thought I’d better get on with the lilac party … even though the shrub I picked these from has finished blooming. It happens so fast … but I have another type that’s just starting … too much fun around here I tell ya!

You can’t even imagine the scent … or maybe you can …

Here’s a favourite from last year, edited with the new preset kk_Hush …

I take hundreds of photos and it seems that once a few weeks (or years) have passed, I don’t feel right using them. Well, I’m on a mission to get over that! Does it matter whether I took a photo today or last year? I don’t think so … a lot of work goes into setting a scene, shooting, and then processing images. It’s a self-imposed restriction I’ve put on myself … one of many it seems.

I do think a side note letting viewers know you’re using an older image is all a person needs to do … or maybe not even that? Anyway, seems like I was into a lilac series last year as well:

Isn’t that the truth. I usually think I have to use something recent or not at all if I’ve not been on a photoshoot to have something new. I like your thinking because going through some old disks, I found some that were so pretty but from another year.

Your photos of these are so crisp and clear and pretty. Love how you displayed them, and such detail in the lilac blooms. Very nice. :)

Amazing! They are all wonderful shots. The first one that is overflowing with lilacs is my favorite, and is gorgeous, I love the different heights of the flowers. I can almost smell them. :)

I’m loving your lilac and lavender parties! The height of these lilacs is remarkably beautiful…very majestic! Enjoy them while they are here.

Simply stunning! Love them old or new!

Whenever I look back through my photos I laugh when I see how often I repeat myself but that is because most of the things I shoot are seasonal. I say use any and no need to comment on whether they are old or new unless you are taking a class which requires new photos.

What wonderful large bunches of lilacs. Yes, I can imagine the smell. My bush gives me only a few sparse stems of blossoms. But, they do smell wonderful.

my goodness barb. what a glorious series of shots. that color is divine and your compositions just make it pop. my baby lilac bloomed several weeks ago, so it’s nice to get another chance to enjoy their blossoms. now if they just made smell-a-blogging. ;)
