The scent of moist earth and lilacs hung in the air like wisps of the past
and hints of the future
Margaret Millar
How true is that?! Lilacs have been part of my life since I was a little girl growing up on a farm in Saskatchewan.
They remind me of my Mom, spring wedding showers complete with little sandwiches and cakes, and the aroma of coffee brewing for the adults … nothing is more memorable than a smell, wouldn’t you agree?

… before the storm …
Have a lovely day everyone! Are you ready for June?

I was in love with lilacs for many years before I ever saw or smelled one, just from the descriptions I’d read of them in books. Just the idea of them filled me with nostalgia. When I moved east and experienced them in real life for the first time, they did not disappoint, Now I look forward to their brief season every spring, and even though I don’t have any of my own, I savor any I came across in my walks.
Thanks for stopping by León! I so appreciate your visits … and yes, I agree, lilacs are glorious whether you own them, or are just walking by them!
I do love lilacs and mine have just finished, so I’ll only have memories of their lovely scent until next spring. Gorgeous photos.
Thank you Lorrie xo
I have a lilac shrub, and I look forward to the blooms every year. Your photos are simply stunning!
Thank you Carolann!
