Lemon Shortbread Cookies

March 10, 2015 by Barb 17 Comments

In the Studio, Gigi Thibodeau posted a photo of her Lemon Shortbread Cookies for the “stacked” challenge. When I saw it, I sat straight up and shot her a note saying I must have that recipe.

There were a couple of reasons I wanted to make those cookies …

First of all, I had been searching for the perfect delicacy to set atop my new tray. Along with this tray, I had a new grey and yellow tea towel, so the delicacy had to have a hint of yellow, right? Not only that, I love shortbread, and I love lemon, and it just all seemed to come together.

The vintage whisk complemented the scene perfectly and an extra dusting of icing sugar never hurts anything (in my opinion.)

Barb, just when I think you’ve out done your photography in all ways, you sport up a new and even lovelier set of images, with recipe!! I saw the original post, but hadn’t gotten to the recipe yet. So now I will hop over to Gigi’s for that. We too love lemon and a powder dusting of sugar. LOVE the yellow and grey them, and the beautiful cookies! Happy week!!

WOW!!! Everything in your photo is FANTASTIC! Love your new tray and your cookies look so perfect! I am very tempted to try making the cookies, but my husband is diabetic so I don’t do much baking anymore! Have a great week!

Those look delicious! I’m usually not a fan of yellow but that first photo is so cheerful and pretty, I really love it. :-)

How have I missed this shot of Gigi’s… I have to search it out. And now that I have visited you, I am super inspired to get my bum in gear and start shooting. I haven’t worked much on my Studio stuff, I gotta get moving. And I think the perfect way to motivate me, a yummy shortbread snack ;-). I LOVE that top shot, love it!!

Barb, What I learn most from you is how to make the photo suit the food. With the little flat cookies, your top down view is lovely. I can see the cookie in all it’s glory – shape, color and size – and your choice of props helps to tell the story of cooking baking meant to celebrate spring. The details add so much – a curl of lemon zest, a sprinkle of sugar. My only suggestion – at least one cookie needs to have a missing bite!
