Holding on? trying

September 11, 2011 by Barb 15 Comments

In autumn I get what some other people get during spring and summer. I can’t seem to sit at the computer very long. My attention is being drawn outside. I don’t want to miss that last hurrah, I guess. I just want to be out watching the leaves turn and taking in the familiar sights and sounds and smells. All of a sudden I feel like going for walks. I collect leaves, bunches of dried grasses or grains, and . . . photos. I’m watching and waiting and hoping to capture the essence of autumn and trying to hold on to it. The very fact that I can’t is what makes it so precious. I’ve been unable to create at the computer the last few days so when I saw this quote by Nathaniel Hawthorne, it really spoke to me.

“I cannot endure to waste anything as precious as autumn sunshine by staying in the house. So I spend almost all the daylight hours in the open air”
Nathaniel Hawthorne

I’ve got to get out there!

I get frustrated when I can’t get out of the house because of the weather. Autumn is such a great time of year for photography. Love your shot and the quote.

If you didn’t capture autumn there, no one can. That’s beautiful! Thanks for your nice comment.

I feel the need to get outside lately too. Not because of fall though, but because I’m trying to hold on to the little bits of summer. Love that quote and your photo too :)
