OK, this is hands down my favourite shot of the week. I have been trying forevah to capture a hummingbird that was not at the feeder. So yesterday when I saw two of them cavorting around this flower I thought, I will never get that shot if I don’t try. So I gathered up my stuff and went and sat down on the comfy settee on our patio. I was playing around getting lots of shots of bees when lo-and-behold this hummingbird flew in for a quick sip and took off like lightning! I literally had seconds to get this! I am over the top excited (can you tell?). Anyway, my goal now is to get an even better one . . . we’re never satisfied, are we?

Wow… I can see why! It’s really breathtaking. A perfect shot. I’m adding it to my pinterest I like it so much!
I can see why you love it – beautiful!
great bokeh in the background too!
Just found your blog and picture on pinterest. love it! Great, great job!
Congratulations, Barb! I know what you mean — getting them in a natural setting is like hitting the jackpot! This is beautiful. :)
Beautiful capture and a bonus bee as well. Lovely!
Laughing out loud here … no, we are never satisfied! You do exactly what I do .. this early a.m. I was outside briefly (without camera) and low and behold a male hummingbird comes to the feeder. Do you think I ever see him any other time .. oh no! Do you think he came back after I went in and came back with camera and waited and waited and waited .. oh no!
I don’t seem to have any luck capturing birds, maybe I need more patience. Beautifully done.
Congratulations on capturing this hummingbird – they move so quickly! The light, color, and composition of this photo are all lovely.
Amazing, beautiful shot. I love this photo! You did an excellent job. I am so grateful you shared it with us. ;)
What a gorgeous capture!!! This is what I’m trying to do. Most of mine are at the feeders, my other ones with pretty backgrounds are out of focus.
Nicely done!!!!! :)
You bet! I would be my favorite too – I would love it if I had that come out of my camera!! Beautiful!

Congrats on such a beautiful photo of the hummingbird at the flower.
Wow, gorgeous shot of the hummer!
wonderful capture and perfect lighting!! yes, we constantly challenge ourselves! ;-)
Nope, never satisfied! But please celebrate this brilliant catch. I agree, a bird in a bush is worth two at the feeder. The thing is,the speed of your reactions to get this marvelous picture bodes well for your future chances. I firmly believe each picture taken is preperation for the next. Outstanding!
I can definitely relate to your excitement about getting this shot. I’ve been doing the same thing the past couple days since I discovered a different setting on my camera! And I also know the feeling of thinking I need to keep trying til I get an even better pic! This is a beauty of a pic, especially with the flowers instead of a feeder.

Never satisfied – that is what gets out there with the camera again tomorrow!! I love that you captured this guy against the trees, rather than half against the post – pretty darn good for a first try!
