Bella Grace Magazine Giveaway!

December 9, 2015 by Barb

Incredibly, I recently had the privilege of being published in Bella Grace Magazine, Issue 6 and I could not be more astonished or proud.

I became aware of this publication when Issue 2 hit the stands … I was in Barnes and Noble, and as I flipped through the pages, I slowly moved toward the nearest bench and sat down. My heart was pounding a bit … and when that happens to me, I pay attention.

The photos were so real … perfectly imperfect, and beautiful, and intriguing. The magazine itself felt like a coffee table book with beautiful, thick paper (I believe I thumbed along the edges and smelled it, and maybe even said “oh wow” out loud.)

As I skimmed a few articles, I realized I was reading pull-quotes and storylines that were highlighted or printed in different fonts and sizes … it was pure magic. I knew I wasn’t going to be leaving this treasure behind, and as I tucked it under my arm and made my way to the cashier, I know I was smiling.

So when I was contacted and asked if I would like to have some of my Instagram images appear in their Instagram Spotlight feature, I nearly fell off my chair! I was flabbergasted and excited. I didn’t waste any time getting the required images and text to them … I think it was within hours … ;)

Here are a few of the images I submitted:

Barb! How exciting for you. But I must say, I am not surprised that the asked you to submit images. Everything you post is gorgeous! And what fills me up creatively? Well, this may be surprising, but silence and being alone fill me up. My mind is always racing with ideas but I don’t often have time to mull them over without being interrupted…frequently. Being alone and sitting in silence is such a special thing for me.

    Hi Barb,
First off, congrats. Your work is always inspiring. As you can imagine I’d love to have a copy of Bella Grace. When I first saw the Bella Grace magazine at Finding Stillness 2015, I was also totally taken with this beautiful magazine. The thing that feeds my creative soul is being able to spend a day just creating. I can get totally lost in setting up and taking photos.

    Thanks so much

    Hi Barb,
I am so excited for you. You are such an amazing inspiration to me and so many others . You have a very gentle caring soul that has helped to nurture so many of us in lots of ways over the past year. You lead by example and I thank you. My creative soul gets feed by taking care of my physical self like walking. Then I seem to be able to create so much better. Having a copy of this magazine would be wonderful. I love reading it. Thank you Barb

Bella Grace is the absolute most fabulous magazine on the planet. OK, that sounds a bit over the top, but I really mean it. When I first heard of Bella Grace by way of the still life Instagram community I thought, “What could be so special about it, it’s just a magazine?” But now I know. It is a literary gem with wonderful imagery and so much inspiration for us ‘creatives.’
In answer to your prompt… what feeds my creative soul is pouring over the work of other creatives. Gleaning ideas from books and magazines and online sharing sites is something I’ve always loved and love even more so now that imagery is so accessible. I love studying art and color theory. Gallery hoping is also on the top 5 of things I love to do to as well.
And your blog Barbara, just love it! Thanks for putting all your energy into it, so enjoyable.

Although I can’t enter the Bella Grace draw (being Canadian), I’m so pleased to know that your work was in a previous issue. That is so thrilling to know that an almost-neighbour has been published in this wondrous magazine.

I had a similar experience with this magazine when I first spotted in Tanners in Sydney, BC. It was love at first sight.

    Wishing you a beautiful day…
    Brenda

I fell in love with Bella Grace the first time I saw it too. When I’m trying to find inspiration for a project, I find that strolling through the streets of Manhattan really gives me great ideas and a color palette. I take lots of notes and some pictures so I won’t forget what I’ve seen.

I too was amazed when I saw my first issue of Bella Grace (it was issue 3) !!! I would flip through it for days and then I finally took it apart and framed some of the images. Its an incredible publication – and congratulations on being chosen by the Bella Grace staff!

    Barb,

I’d love to win a copy of Bella Grace — it looks like such a lovely magazine and I have trouble finding it in my area.

What fills my soul? Lots of things including watching an uplifting or soulful movie, reading a good book, going for a long walk with my husband and dogs, or sitting on my front porch listening to the birds and people watching.

Thanks for the opportunity and congratulations on your magazine feature!

    Warmly,
    Kim
