Texture Tuesday: Pressed Flowers

May 6, 2014 by Barb 10 Comments

Texture Tuesday

We finally arrived home yesterday after driving 3,000 km in three days (which is much more civilized than driving it in two days). I’m going to need at least a week to catch up on some work and I can’t even think about posting about our trip until Thursday.

As I sat in my office/sitting room I was leafing through one of my journals and came across this pressed bleeding heart. I was quite intrigued by it.

Last summer I had embarked upon a flower pressing project, even making the press myself. Then I put it on the “back burner” and forgot about it. It’s funny how a project can seem so much more interesting after some time passes.

This is kind of what my garden looks like right now. Dry, brown,  and flat but filled with memories and new hopes. I feel inspired to dig out that press and resume my project. Just doing something for the joy of it would be kind of a nice and I should do more of it. Speaking of that, don’t forget about “app” happy wednesday tomorrow!! I hope to see you there!

PS… you can see I’m quite out of the loop – I forgot today’s theme was “cuppa”… oh well … next week will be better …

I am surprised you even got a post up much less a pretty pressed flower that you found waiting for you. Wonderful way to have memories of your past garden. June and your garden will be here soon and your beautiful potting bench.

How neat that you found that. I’m glad I’m not the only one to cycle through projects! Gorgeous shot!

    How pretty this is, Barb.

I have more pressed flowers than I care to admit to,and like you, just kind of tucked them away. Maybe time to get them out and make use of them. :-)

Have a great (and restful) day!

Glad you arrived home safe and sound! And even had a photo subject waiting for you! I used to press flowers in books as a child- sounds like something fun to try again!

I like rifling through my old projects too. Sometimes I wonder what I was thinking! Great shot to capture the texture.

I’m sure Kim will forgive -and that’s a lot of drive time! Can I tell you I just LOVE what you did with your flowers. I’d love to know how you did this-I’ve never done anything like that. See you tomorrow!

Stopping here always brings a smile to my face Barb!! Love your dried, flat bleeding hearts! I’ll look forward to seeing what your project is with them, as I have a flat, dried tulip still sitting under the ream of paper stack. Hope it greens up soon for you!

Theme or no theme, I love the pressed flowers – and bleeding hearts are a spring favorite. Love the curve of the stem, the little hearts so soft and earthy and the handwritten label. Wonderful project and a photo to make a memory! I’m enjoying your Wednesday app art, too!
