Ladle up Some Succulents!

May 16, 2014 by Barb 21 Comments

Yesterday I spent the day potting up all the flowers and plants I had so recklessly purchased, knowing full well that frost is lurking at every corner until June 1st.

But we had sunshine, warm temps, tinges of green in the trees, it was spring at last! I was supposed to be grocery shopping but those people are smart … setting up little greenhouses right in front of the store … .

As I scooped up pot after pot I could hear the little voice in my head telling me to go ahead! buy it! buy it all! just be prepared to cart it all indoors every night for the next two weeks …

Well, it’s not like I haven’t done it before and this weekend is our May long weekend here in Canada. We have company coming and I want it to be summery! So I did go ahead and do it.

Here’s a cute little Echeveria Shaviana potted up into a rustic old ladle that I found at my local Junque Store.

Some of our family is coming to spend the weekend with us. I feel a bonfire and s’mores in our future!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Why not. I love the rustic look of the tools and shelving, especially the one that has the garden sign.

You are so creative! The succulent looks great in the ladle. Let’s hope you can leave the plants outside for the rest of summer.

Nice shots, love all your gardening tools! We just bought some new plants and started gardening over this past weekend, too. Spring is in the air and our flowers outside are blooming again. Happy weekend. :)

I have potting bench envy! Love! But I don’t have frost date envy. June 1? Holy cow. Ours is May 15 but we seldom see frost that late. Enjoy your long weekend. Ours is the following weekend and we’ll be the ones traveling to visit family.

Oh Barb, what fun! I can just picture you with a peaceful smile on your face the entire time you were scooping up those lovelies and planting them too. Gorgeous images and I’d LOVE to see a full view shot of your planting bench. I’ve got an old picnic table that needs dismantled and then RE-mantled into my very own workbench.

I truly love your potting bench shots with all the worn wood from your winters, so great in photos. You know how I love succulents, mine will not survive our summer so I will have to buy again come fall but that is ok and they don’t like AC. I have enjoyed them and they are still looking good just know it will not last. Have a good long weekend

We just can not help ourselves in the spring from not buying or planting too early…that’s part of the fun, I guess. Sounds like you have a fun weekend planned…enjoy!

Love all gardening images, and these are real gems! Your potting bench is my idea of heaven on earth . . . the dirt, the rust, the soft worn wood, the green of the plants. These are some of my favorite images of yours.
