Sweet orange light

October 21, 2011 by Barb 35 Comments

I captured this early one morning when the sun was just rising. The light hit these trees and they seemed to be on fire – it was beautiful. This is SOOC – absolutely no editing.

My photography instructor explained it this way – when the sun is overhead, the light strikes through our thin atmosphere with very little interference. When on the horizon, however, the light must travel through many miles of dense lower air to reach our eyes. In so doing, blue light is scattered, leaving behind yellow and orange.

Sweet

To all my friends out there – I’ve been snowed under with ‘stuff’ and haven’t been around to see you but I will get there – I appreciate you all so much!

I’m participating in “The Shades of Autumn” at Project Alicia where the colour today is ‘orange’.

This is stunning! Congratulations on this capture. I was out shooting today but not early enough. Took a walk through the woods and all I saw was lots of yellow and green with some red mixed in. Also, many of the trees have lost their leaves – we have had terrific winds the past 2 days. Yuck! Again, love this photo!
