Seashells and Soap

March 12, 2013 by Barb 17 Comments

seashell art, instagram

I’ve become fascinated with this “from above” photography.

I find it mysterious. What’s the story here? A handful of seashells, a little sachet of dried lavender, handmade soap, and flowers…

As a matter of fact each item does have a story but that story is most likely meaningful only to me. And yet, when I look at these little vignettes made by strangers, I have the feeling that I’m getting a tiny glimpse into their life and I wonder what it all means. And that’s where I want to be left… wondering.

Beautiful work, Barb! I don’t do much of “from above” PoV, but I think I am going to start. Your photo just gave me an inspiration. Thank you!

Oh! I love seashells! And on that rough wood … all that texture … just fabulous!! Like Deanna, I’ve yet to try “from above” … time to get busy.

All your colors and textured objects work very well on this. Love the tones, and especially the wood floor. Great work Barb!

Lovely vignette! Great variety of textures here – the shells, wood, flowers. I’ll have to try this “from above” idea myself!

I really like the softness that the flowers add, against the wood. Very nice.

Beautiful work. I’m going to try more from above…you’ve inspired me. I love your words as well. I hadn’t thought about the people who had a hand in creating the items we cherish. I hope our appreciation somehow how finds its way to them. xo
