The last hurrah

September 23, 2011 by Barb 44 Comments

Yesterday, I was sitting on our deck luxuriating in the last summer day and gazing out at the lake. I was marvelling at how absolutely beautiful our September has been. So far, no frost, no rain, and my flowers are as gorgeous as they were a month ago – unheard of! This weekend hubby and I plan to take the boat out as much as possible –  for morning coffee, lunch, and sunset. The colours should be at their very best and if the lake stays as glassy as it has been all week – well, you can imagine how that could stir the soul of any photographer! a glorious weekend ahead – there is absolutely “a harmony in autumn, and a lustre in the sky”.

So beautiful – soak in every last minute. I wish the sun would come out here. It’s been so gloomy.

How big is that lake at the bottom of your garden that you can boat on it?
    What luxury. It looks fabulous.

Beautiful photos! This is the best side of autumn when it is colorful and the leaves are still on the trees, and nice light.

Your weekend sounds wonderful! I would love to have a boat (and close access to water!) Well, I should qualify…we have a pond and we have a boat. But we have to either paddle it or row it and our pond is currently covered in duck weed. :(
