Follow Your Art

August 20, 2013 by Barb 22 Comments

texture tuesday, kim klassen

This morning when I went to get a second cup of coffee, I glanced out of the dining room window and looked down at my potting bench.

Have I mentioned that I love my potting bench? Maybe 50 times? Anyway, I noticed the little sign I have that says “follow your heart” but the “he” was hidden behind a plant. It struck a chord with me, so my little quote for the day was born.

I’m always working on some project, ideas tumbling around in my head, and sometimes I get tired of it (or maybe it’s the mess that results from photo shoots and props). At the same time I’m thinking that I should be doing something more productive. Do you ever feel that way? I guess I have art angst… there are worse things…

If you have a moment, check out the series of photos on my Instagram feed with the hashtag #fromthepottingbench, to see how the season is progressing. I see a bit of yellow in the trees already, and the highbush cranberries are turning red. It doesn’t seem that long ago that I was working with bedding plants…

I always have mixed emotions when the seasons are changing; alittle sad that summer and all of it’s flowers and warm weather are coming to a close and at the same time excited about the adventures of fall….

I love the processing on that first picture….beautiful…

Yes … summer is on the wane, always a bittersweet time. I love your ‘art’ of the day, simply lovely. And I think I could fall in love with your potting bench very easily.

Your artistic mind sounds like so many of us….sometimes I get so many ideas, then realize the short amount of time to do them all. And the props and mess, yes that comes with it all, but looking at your photos in the end, such a delight and lovely to behold. So worth it. Love the texture used on the top photo!! Yes, a great quote “follow you art”. Thanks for sharing!

I smiled about your words about art angst and productivity – I understand what you’re saying although your results in terms of what you produce alone on this blog really do speak for themselves as you have such an eye for this – and I mean the sincerely because even before I read any of your words today, I clicked open your page and saw this photo and had my normal reaction of thinking how much i appreciate your style and flair.

love your sweet little daisy. and you’re so right…sometimes it’s hard to balance what i want to do (play with photos, textures, photoshop) vs. what i need to do (grocery shop, fold clothes, pull weeds). :)

Really, really like the texture on your first photo, and August is nice too. I cannot believe that school has already started. I always hated to see my kids have to return to school at Summer’s end. I always missed having them home. Now the grandbaby is having his first day of 2nd grade and today is his birthday also, and I miss having him around. I’ve had him all Summer. The weather seems to be keeping with the early return to school as we’ve had more Fall type weather lately, and the spider webs outside are already forming.

    Happy Tuesday,
    Peabea

[…] The maximum height should be no more than 760 pixels. If you have to scroll up to see the top of a photo, and scroll down to see the rest of it, it’s too big. Whenever I add a photo that is more than 760 pixels in height, I’m always disappointed (the scroll down factor). And yes, I sometimes still do it (naughty)! Here’s a prime example: “Follow Your Art“. […]
