Quite often in the summer I’ll jump in the car and simply drive around. Yes, I’m searching for photos, but at the same time I’m soaking up life. If I hadn’t gone out and about I would not have discovered this wonderful barn. I sat and stared at it for the longest time. The whole scene brought me peace.
So orderly.
So tidy.
So loved. I wanted to take it home with me.
I could smell freshly cut lawn and clover.
I could hear tall grasses rustling in the warm breeze, and a squirrel chattering in the evergreens. Other than that … silence.
Later in the day I visited Star Lake and ran into this fellow who was pretty much minding his own (business) …
… seriously?
OK. Goodnight! I’ll leave you alone.
For the past few days we’ve had smoke from forest fires blanketing our area, so that’s why the sky in each of these images looks blown out and featureless. The poor air quality has been rated as high as 7 (out of 10) which is unheard of in these parts. And even though it does make for some interesting light I’m ready for some fresh air. Here’s hoping for a cool breeze and a bit of rain please.
Thanks for stopping by, I so appreciate it! Have a wonderful weekend!
I would love fresh air every day too! We live in a city of smog! Beautiful images
Pretty landscape, much like the farmland in the Midwest of our country. The composition of the sweet little red barn is really lovely, love that you included the cut grass. I wanted to capture that when I was in Oregon but I was a passenger in the car and needed to say halt more but didn’t.
just lovely scenes! sorry about the fires and smoke, though…
Those golden fields and that red barn are such striking images. I certainly hope that fires can be put out so the air quality can improve.
Beautiful country scenes, it looks heavenly ! I hope the smoke and fires clear quickly ….
It’s so nice to see a well-cared for barn, and this one s a beauty, Barb.
Have a great weekend!
such dreamy grass with bokeh, and a new barn, different from Wednesday’s. You’ve inspired me to take a drive tomorrow AM. If I get up early. Sorry about the fires. They usually give some good sunsets tho.
A lovely spot wish we had red barns in my part of the world. So sorry to hear about the fires, keep safe..
hi barb … the farm scenes are so peaceful. I live smack dab in the middle of the Midwest with farms all around me. You have convinced me to take more “sunday drives”. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
hello lovely.
nothing better than a red barn….I love how uncluttered it is around the barn… sometimes I find one…but there’s distractions around it… that take away from it’s beauty……
this was waiting for you!!
The mosquitoes here are so bad, that even bug spray which I detest isn’t keeping them away….. by the time Ben and I get our 8 miles in…. 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening… I feel a bit like a mad person… waving my arms…. about. :)
Are they bad around you?
I keep planning on taking a drive and capturing the canola….. but I put it off cause of the darn mosquitoes… your photos have given me a push… maybe I will do that tonight….
enjoy your weekend….. just loved these images…. xo
What wonderful captures you found on your drive…thank you for sharing them! So sorry about your forest fires and I hope they’re over soon. That barn is fabulous!
Oh my word! I love each shot!
Lovely photos… just looking at them gave me a peaceful feeling!
Oh, how I love old red barns! This one is a treasure! Love the yellow field, too! Your drive was very beautiful!
Those rides sound so relaxing and like my photo-walks … Seeing things and being able to stop and capture the views, trying to convoy the feeling of the moment … The get the feeling of being unhurried – letting the time stand still and enjoy, from your beautiful photos, Barb.
is that rapeseed? oh how these photos make me want to visit you area of the world. beautiful stunning.
Such great shots, especially the barn!
