Chocolate Hydrangea

January 17, 2015 by Barb 22 Comments

Good morning! as I sit in a hotel room (in the dark) and listen to the hubs (snoring) I’m playing around with one of the new presets that Kim included with The Studio|On Line class. There’s lots of activity and excitement going on in there …

Anyway, I had taken this shot of some hydrangeas early one morning as the sun shone through a frosted glass window in our bathroom. I love the light in there, which is probably why that quote popped into my head. Or maybe … it’s because I’m sitting in the dark? hmmm…

Chocolate Hydrangea, Keeping With the Times, Studio On Line

The backdrop is an old barn window (door) which I painted with a creamy chalk paint. It’s a heavy brute so I haven’t used it much. The vignette is natural, captured in camera – gotta love that!

Processed in LR with kk_chocolate

I’ll be posting this on Instagram, and if you’d like to see what others are doing check out #thestudioonline

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Oh Barb, your picture is totally perfect! the simple composition, the lovely fresh flower which is luxury during winter, the beautiful light coming from the left side, the soft tones with a subtle touch of green on the stems, the vintage background and this so elegant font (as mentioned by Sarah)… not to forget Kim’s brand new preset “chocolate” which adds subtle dramatic contrasts on your amazing picture…

You had me at chocolate! I’ll have to be on the look out for those hydrangeas. I wish I had LR for Kim’s presets. They are gorgeous and I’m loving the work that people are putting out in her classes. This is just scrumptious.

    Hiya Barb!

Hopping by to say hello and it take a look at your latest happenings. What a lovely blog with many inspiring creations.
Such alluring images you share along with a backdrop I’d love to make for myself….

I’m working on catching up in The Studio & Be Still but also have also been focusing on things I learned while at Gather. Exposing my work and words is a bit of a challenge for me but I’m going to give it a go as I’m working on my new blog along with mastering the develop module in Lightroom because I’m kinda stuck… Kim’s tutorials should set me straight in no time, right?

Good Day to you, Warm regards… ~ Karla
